Feed the World

David 2015, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Mission, Prophesy, Psalm, Revelation, Standing in the Stream Leave a Comment

As we have mentioned before, the rivers in Ezekiel and Revelation feed trees that produce fruit.  This fruit is produced every month and we are told it will never fail.  Ezekiel also mentions that fisherman will come to the river to catch its many species for food.  Again this is an image of the life-giving water that provides food for others to help sustain them.  This food draws the people to the river to eat of its produce be it fruit or fish.

It is also an image of the church in its local context.  When it is at its best and it is a place that God’s river flows through, it becomes a place that feeds and sustains people in different ways.  Some will receive food in a literal sense as a very real hunger is relieved.  Others will come and find that a spiritual hunger is relieved through the teaching and ministry of its people as they seek to serve God.

As disciples of Jesus Christ we seek to be those who produce fruit so that we may feed the hungry and become fishers of men and women.
