1 Peter 4:8-10

The Beatles once sang ‘all you need is love’; maybe they had been reading 1 Peter.  As well as loving each other, God also calls us to offer hospitality and to serve one another.  All three of these are vital for the life of a community.  Love helps us bear with each other when disagreements occur so that we can seek reconciliation instead of conflict.  Hospitality means sharing what we have with each other, be it sharing food or time. Finally, serving means seeking to help each other as each needs. All of this we do because of God’s grace to us and because we recognise we are only stewards of what we have. It all belongs to God and we can’t keep hold of it beyond this life.
