Setting Things Right

Isaiah 42:1-9

After being liberated from Egypt, the people entered a covenant with God that made them His people. It was not long, though, until these people were going back on their promise and demanding a king. God gave them a ruler but warned them of the consequences and, sure enough, not far down the line, Israel and Judah were divided and then conquered. The people of God were exiled to foreign soil away from the land God had promised. The prophet Isaiah speaks to the people of a saviour who will come and rescue them. The main theme of this saviour is that He will bring back justice for the people and the nations. This is a reminder to all of the importance of setting things right.
